| Re: Parduba Mouthpieces I'm Jerry Stephenson and I've played professionally when I was younger and currently am a trumpet player with the Marco Island Strummers in Fla.
I've used a Parduba double cup H.J. #5 mouthpiece for 5 years and a #3 Parduba Standard double cup on certain pieces(The #3 is not a Harry James model. Other than diameter I see no differences in these two and of course the #3 has a slightly more shallow cup than the 5. The #3 requires me to warm up in the lower register longer than I would have to on the #5.
I like both mouthpieces and have no problem switching back and fourth between the two sizes.
I use the #5 Parduba on my 1954 King Super 20 Trumpet and the #3 on my
1947 Paris Selmer Grands Prix horn. Both horns have a far better tone with the Pardubas than they did with my old 10.5 Bach MP. I did have the inner rim of bo
th the #3 and #5 buffed with a soft material by a jeweler for added comfort. I see no difference between the standard and the HJ model!! Best Regards
