jkarnes0661 has a spectacular aura about
HI

Just found this site. Was googling for info about something in another trumpet forum and ran across this site. Anyway, to do what's apparently the traditional thing:

I'm from Grand Rapids, MI.

I've been playing for 16 years.

Horn wise I play:
a Bach 37 Bb
a Bach 72 Bb (shortly to be for sale to buy a C)
a Yamaha YTR9830 piccolo
a Barrington Flugelhorn (don't play flugel much, ie. cheap horn)
Mouthpiece wise I play:

a Bach 1 1/2 C
a Warburton 4SV anchor rim with 4 backbore for rock band and "commercial sound" lead work
a Schilke 11A for piccolo

Hopefully I'll be adding a C trumpet to that line up in the next month.

I do about 1/2 and 1/2 orchestral/classical and commercial styles of stuff. I'll pretty much play whatever is put in front of me if there's a check on the stand. Personal taste runs more towards classical stuff. I play in a community orchestra in town associated with my alma mater, Calvin College and do a lot of church gigs, both classical and commercial stuff. Going to attempt a recital next spring with a buddy of mine to keep up the motivation to practice. Gets tough to keep it up after college!

I'm a clinical lab scientist for a hospital in town and I'm planning on heading back to grad school in the next few years for a PhD in molecular biology (just finished sending out apps for next fall). I'm also an avid motorcyclist and love tinkering in the garage with cars, motorcycles, and very occasionally trumpet stuff, though never on the horn directly.

Anyway, I've rambled long enough if you're still reading. Thanks and looking forward to participating.
