A bit of update:

After having measured the bell taper, my tech noticed thad the 26 bell is actually BIGGER than both the 37 and 7 bells (the only bells made "back then" he had to compare with!)

Maybe it is somwhere in the neighbourhood of the 25 bell?

The "tight" feel may come from the fact that I'm actually not used to fill up a horn this big!!
