I received word from Monette Friday that my trumpet will arrive on Tuesday -- after a 15 month wait. A document was included with instructions for the care of the instrument. One item of interest to me was the "O" ring adjustments for the bottom caps which are used for fine adjustments. Monette recommends that the caps be adjusted every day and that they be tightened to the optimum tension with the third valve cap being the loosest, the first a little tighter, and the second the tightest.

My question to Monette owners on this Forum: do you follow Monette's recommendation of loosening and tightening the valve caps daily? Did you notice a difference in the instruments sound when you forgot to adjust the valve caps as recommended by Monette? How tight do your valve caps have to be to get optimum performance out of the instrument? I’ll experiment with the adjustment but though I'd ask some of the expert Monette owners on this Forum.
