Basics

TMers,

I've recently come across a very interesting book (1) for those of you that are focused on teaching fundamentals or are still developing your own. It's a German publication (Rundel) called Basics Plus -- studies for 1 or 2 trumpets, by Wolfgang Guggenberger.

A former student of the Chicagoans (Cichowicz, Jacobs, Herseth), Herr Guggenberger is now chair of the brass department at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich. He has adapted the famous Cichowicz "sol, fis, sol, la, sol, me, do" study, the Clarke 2nd, 3rd, and 5th studies, etc., for 2 trumpets (student and teacher) and adds a number of Stamp and Arban elements as well. The 2 trumpet format is ideal, in my opinion, for teaching young trumpeters searching for a model.

Take a look at this site if interested: www.basicsplus.info

Best and watching here for comments,
EC

(1) credit my student CK, who probably is wondering when I plan on returning it.
