| Re: Post humorous trumpet experiences here. Another experience at Allstate...
During a break, my little low brass group from the orchestra went to the vendor's area. I went to a stand with a lot of trumpets, and walla! a Benge picc! a Bach 229 C, an Allen Vizzuti Xeno, etc. I wanted to play the picc, so i asked the guy if I could. I picked it up, looked it over, etc. and proceeded to play it. it was a good picc, albiet smaller/tighter than the Schilke I'm used to, and I proceeded to tell this to the man there. I then played the 229 C, playing a few scales and whatnot. The man at teh booth then asked me, "So you are in the orchestra? What are you, second trumpet?" I replied the only way I knew how, "No, actually, I don't even really play trumpet, I'm the third trombone in the orchestra." His reply to this was "Wha..." and nothing more. I played a couple other horns, then moved on to another stand. He didn't say a word. I wasn't even playing that well! I just doodled around on the picc, making some stuff up, and played a couple chromatic scales on the C. And i was telling the truth! that was a very funny little incident. I think he was amazed by the fact that I knew what the horns were on his stand before he could name them off.
