Re: New piccolo trumpet

Here are some more videos of the rotary piccolo trumpet.

I am using the Monette AP1-5 mouthpiece with a Bob Reeves adaptor.
The mouthpiece will not go far enough into the adaptor so I had to bind the end with insulating tape. I just don't feel like spending $200 on another mouthpiece with the right fitting when the trumpet only cost $400.

Poor audio quality as its the built in web cam microphone.
Please no comments about the shirt!

The reason for the delay in doing this was that I had to concentrate on playing the cornet for two weeks for a Gilbert and Sullivan gig. We were also getting our living room redecorated so the furniture was piled up in the room that has the computer in it.
I could have recorded it at work but I have a feeling my employees would have objected or jumped about in the background.

Telemann Concerto for trumpet and two oboes
(I am performing this with an orchestra in March and this is my first look at it for about ten years)

1st Movement

3rd Movement (may be the 4th movement depending on which edition you have and how it splits the middle ones)

Telemann Concerto in D for trumpet
Apologies for the bad G's.

Allegro - normal speed

Allegro - stupidly fast
YouTube - Telemann concerto in D - piccol trumpet - way too fast

Some more Telemann Tootlings
I was trying to work on my trills and overall tone

Trent was saying that he felt the blow was quite tight on this instrument.
To me it feels like most rotary valve instruments I have played on, there should be more of a resistive feel rather like a cornet, but it should not feel so tight that it effects the range.
You do get looser feeling roary trumpets but they tend not to have the distinctive sound.

Another possible solution if you want it to blow more open is to use the tightest of the Bb leadpipes but pull it out to play in A.
That will change the response.
