Hi Misty,
Nice to meet you! Classical attendance isn't too bad, when you consider that if its a good program with a good conductor, we can fill the hall three times a week. The Concert hall at the Opera House holds around 2900 people.
Of course in Australia, people are sports-mad and the arts community in general has to really fight to be heard---I think that's a bit better balanced in the US and the UK. Must be our weather....
Have a great time in Brisbane---shame you aren't coming down to Sydney.
