oops, i forgot some details!!!
my favorite genres of music to play on guitar are definately indie and jazz - bebop in specific. I'm a huge fan of davis, coltrane, monk, jj johnson, and especially charlie christian. although my favorite davis era has got to be the cool jazz era. with songs like so what amongst others. other favorites include gypsy music...like django reinhardt.
i also like salsa and latin/carribean music. which i know is a wide genre.
to be honest, i'll listen to anything
as far as the euphonium i play anything my teacher puts in front of me (obviously). but my favorite things to play are scales!!!! lol, just kidding. however i really do like pieces like Ascension (inspired by Daunte's Inferno), pieces like Puszta (more gypsy stuff), and marches. maybe that's just cuz they feature low brass (t-bones and euphoniums) during the trio section.
but i also own my dad's old Holton trombone made in Elkhorn WI. it's a pretty dece trombone. it has a G attachment!!! which i find very useful. i need to get it maintnenced. i cleaned it out with warm water and the like but i need to get it properly maintnenced, as before i brought it out it hadn't been touched in a long time.
for euphonium mouthpiece (as well as my marching band baritone), i use more or less the industry std, a Bach 6-1/2AL. for t-bone (which i don't consider myself a player of, but im learning) i use a 7C, which gets a nice, bright sound.
i know almost nothing about trumpet/coronet mouthpieces, tone, or the horns in general. so this should be a fun education experience!!
please see my other post in the horns area (i guess?)
thanks so much
