Re: Spada Bach vs. Spada Bel Canto

I've tried a Spada Bach C with a pitch finder and also played a couple of days with a Spada Bel Canto Bb. The Bach C was a really nice instrument, absolutely wonderful to play. Would really like to compare it side-to-side to a Yamaha Chicago when I get a chance. The Bel Canto was a bit weird. It was a really freeblowing horn with a nice sound, but when it was cold it got HORRIBLY flat. Don't know what caused it to be so bad.. thinner piping or different metal in the bell or whatnot, but it was a real problem. I remember having to put the tuning slide all the way in always when picking the trumpet up. And I've never had to do this on any other trumpet.
