Braver (or dumber) than I knew. I had no idea what my OLD Super
was worth. (I got it as a graduation present when I went from Jr Hi to High School). My daughter ran across a Super for sale on some web site; it was going for $650.
So, I now knew roughly what it's worth. Took it to two different shops and asked for an appraisal for insurance. The first one said between $2000-3000, because of it's age and being a very good trumpet and in good shape (no dents, etc, only some wear on the spots where I held it). When I told him I also had an Ambassador, he suggested I have my grandson learn on that and "protect" the Super until he's older. Unfortunately, he's really attached to the Super.
The second one said it was a "classical, professional" trumpet, but could only compare it to something being sold today. He gave me a $2200 estimate, saying it was probably equivalent to a Yamaha Zeno. I guess that's retail. I see one for $1764. BUT, I'll insure it for $2200.
So, now I'm looking at insurance company quotes.
