Mystery trumpet with lugnut-like shaped bell

This is a real mystery trumpet of my father's! We just brought it out of storage and are curious to know how old it is, where it was made and what the story behind the unusual shape is.

The trumpet is marked with "Paris" on the bell, so perhaps it is made in Paris, then, or is it a model name? There is also an anchor-symbol on there, and two what may be initials.

On the middle pipes to the playing valves there is marked "955". The trumpet appears to be silver plated? On some places this is worn off.

The bell is interestingly enough not round, but almost has the shape of a lugnut. The trumpet is a Bb trumpet.

Would be grateful for any info you have about this trumpet. Model, maker, history, use, who could have owned it? Tricky? I know, but I have tried googling and came up with nothing.
