Chemicals used in shops are either a type of industrial soap for horns that aren't full of calcification, and they used to use muriatic (sp) acid, but now they use something else. At the school I go to it is called Etch-Klenz.
Better equipped shops will use an ultrasonic. They are great, it takes only 2 minutes or so to do an entire horn.
