I wasn't Wynton's teacher. I was more a friend, big brother, sounding board to Wynton in those days. He played a lot of the material for me and we discussed the stuff he was unsure about. Some of the more florid stuff on those recordings came from other sources. Remember that he was only a kid then.
Wynton was never afraid to ask questions. He is an old school musician, always searching.
