| At Sea I just got my copy of As Sea. It is excellent! FWIIW, coming from me, I am reminded of Miles at some moments and a lot of Kenny Wheeler at others - two of my favorite trumpeters (I have a lot of favorites..). This is a must have CD.
I am going to sit down and have my daughter, Natalia listen to this. She is a little on the fence about her music. She sings, plays EXCELLENT classical piano and plays pretty good alto sax. The music program at her junior high is just awful, and she struggles with trying to keep her work ethic up there, though she loves this soooo much that she's work hard no matter how bad the environment. Thank heavens she has the Merit Music Program to challenge and inspire her. But I digress... She is struggling with mixing voice study and jazz sax. I am trying to help her balance both, but I want to skew her towards jazz instrumentals a bit. Ingrid's wonderful CD will help me.
Now, my son will just love this CD! He is really interested in jazz artists who make MUSIC and are not slaves to grandstanding. This CD is so musical and beautiful that I know he'll "borrow" it from me. I have to keep bugging him to put my stuff back. He has tons of my LP's in his room! In any case, as he gets ready to finish off high school and then go to major in jazz studies next year, this will be a must have in his collection.
If you are ever performing in the Chicago area, Ingrid, please let me know. We'll be there! Also, say hi to Mr. Hadro, for me. He works for Artist Share and is a former NTHS student.
Peace.
