With that said,I'll prefer if the scout is neither a present and/or former trumpet player nor a business man as I personally would prefer the scout to recognize a "diamond in the rough."
From my life experiences and inter actions,I strongly believe that cats like Duke Pearson and Art Blakey had great ears for recognizing "diamonds in the rough."
The records (pardon the pun) would confirm my assertion. !
