Having recently worked up a ton of hard pieces recently for a friend's cd release I can really say multiple performances are the way to go. We just got done our 4th concert in a week and by the end it was like we all had "firewire" connections to each other's brains.
I can only imagine what it would be like to tour for 5-6 months or find a steady long term engagement.
