I don't know about the units sold elsewhere in the world, but the units in Germany had this feature blocked when using the USB ports. The offical explanation was "copyright issues".

What does work just fine is using the optical digital output into a soundcard with an optical digital input. The copy happens in real time, but is at least a 100% digital copy.
