I am currently playing on the (literal) gold standard of mouthpieces, the Bach 3C, but am looking to get a new mouthpiece that can help brighten my sound, since i play on a dark sounding horn. The Cannonball 725, ML Bore, [
Link to My Horn] but it is black nickel plated and has too dark a tone for big band work. I need a mouthpiece that will help brighten and penetrate through the ensemble, but
not necessarily a lead mpc. I have thought about a 3D or a Schilke equivalent, and Monette is just too pricey... (sorry Dave) So as of now i have no real direction to go in, except the 3D
