| Re: Cannonball Trumpet I currently own a Black Nickel Plated 725, and it plays very well. I've had it for about 2 1/2 years and have "broken it in" enough to know how it sounds in all situations, jazz, band ensamble and even marching (only BOA GN's) anyway, I do have one problem with this horn. It sounds good for small group Jazz and even in concert band, but in a larger setting (Big Band or Marching) the sound is too dark/dead to be heard over the ensamble
In other words, it doesn't have that brass "sizzle" when you need it. I think a brighter sounding mouthpeice would help. A Bach 3D perhaps (I have another post on this topic...) Otherwise, the horn is great, and blows freely and has very good Monel valves, i do reccomend a different finish...black looks very Ego Machine, but Silver or raw brass may give you the sizzle your looking for.
