Have you tried your 3C on other horns to test if the horn is too dark, or if your sound is too dark? I agree with Jimi about the air speed thing--there are plenty of monster jazz players that use a 3C, and it may be your technique that is at fault. Good chops can provide plenty of sizzle, and please remember that power comes from the player, and not the mouthpiece.
