| Re: After getting a Bb... Then what? I wouldn't worry about the second horn until you have the first one, have saved for the second one and gotten your professors input.
A lot of things can change in your life very quickly and time is best spent on the wonderful things happening now. Planning for a future horn can be great fun and as long as the anticipation doesn't slow down current progress everything is OK.
The feeling that I get from a lot of your posts (I read almost all of them), is that jazz is currently a pretty strong magnet for you. That would make a flugel a great choice NOW.
Regardless, any horn can be used to deliver an inspiring message. Practice, practice, practice!
For the allround musician with equal ties to jazz and classical - you can get almost all of the orchestral work done well with a Bb, but many jazz things DO need that sexy mellow alto voice of a flugel. The C is only important when orchestral music becomes your focal point.
Suggestion, start working on transposition today to extend your Bb time. That will give you a competitive edge in school with ALL ensembles.
