Get a gig playing for the national guard or army. Army for full-time, guard for part-time.
Offer to play for free for a wedding or event. Get your name and your sound out there. You have to be willing to give a little to get a little.
Wait tables. Good way to make some change and meet people.
Be willing to talk to anybody and everybody.
If you can't find full-time work, find part-time work. If you can't find that, do odd jobs. If you can't find that, busk.
Get a bike, save cash. :)
