| Re: Kurt Weill 2nd Symphony I love Weill's 2nd Symphony. It's very connected with the piece mentioned above, the Seven Deadly Sins. Two good recordings are Nagano's with the Lyon Orchestra and Jansons's recording with the Berlin Phil. (extended trumpet solo right near the beginning). The Lyon recording couples the 2nd symphony with a nice recording of The Seven Deadly Sins. The Berlin one couples it with the suite from "The Rise and Fall of Mahagony" and the Violin Concerto with Frank Peter Zimmermann playing (one of my favorite violinists). The violin concerto has a beautiful cadenza for violin and trumpet solo in the second movement.
