I first saw BLUE around the fall of 1963 in NYC and at that time he led his own small combo.

I was told that lots of great things happened in Philly especially around the 1953-54 period when Ike Quebec arrived in town and arranged for Mr.Clifford Brown to join Mr.Blakey's Quintet that included Mr.Silver.
Some 55 years later,the wonderful and stellar soloists that emerged from the Blakey/Silver combos are too numerous to mention.
