(Find a Conn 12A for $165 plus shipping? I can dream, can't I?)

The quotes from the Conn company at
The Conn Loyalist
show that Conn lengthened the 5A sometime between 1963 and 1966.
My 5A is from 1962.
What year is yours?

That's a great price for a nice 5A. The one I bought was a lot cheaper, but unfortunately is a real fixer-upper. What I really wanted was a 9A, but I don't want to spend what it would take to buy one. It plays well, though, so I'll probably have it restored and keep it. It's a more powerful cornet than my Bach, and can hold its own with trumpets or blend with cornets, depending on mouthpiece choice. The serial number dates mine to 1963, so I don't know why it's a quarter inch shorter than yours. I measured it twice - once with a yardstick and once with a tape measure, and got the same result both times. Oh well.....
