I played a (BAD) broadway show tour in the hall across the square from the Columbus Symphony for a week, it was almost sold out every night. I heard the orchestra rehearse Hindemith Symphonic Metamorphosis one day, they were great.

I don't think that the problem is money, I think it is marketing/advertising.
