We all know what happened when advancing Japanese auto technology caught US makers sleeping, and drove a technical revolution which brought our cars to where they could compete in the world market, irrespective of the place of actual manufacture. It will be interesting to see what happens in the musical instrument business with the decline of craftmanship in US factories and the growth of overseas relocation of manufacturing.
As far as I know, Yamaha America still making pianos, that's all.
They tryed to get a better market quote making instruments in the USA, but sales were not increased in accordance with the investment they did.
It is very sad. Less working positions.
BTW Yamaha still making their famous rotary trumpets -and few other models- in Frankfurt, Germany.
Most of new models are made in China -but under Yamaha watching eye- and Japan.
