As Wilmer said "Flexibility of style" has to be one of the most important issues.

In the UK we have a player called Derek Watkins who has done big band, Bond film scores, Harry Potter and all sorts of other things across many different styles and i think the ability to do that has helped him earn a consistent living.

Its got to make a difference if you are able to play comfortably in a wide range of settings.
