This is a reality!
The development of instruments has been more at the loud end than at the other side! Even the steel wound strings on violins, violas and celli are MUCH louder than their gut predecessors.
There will be repercussions! I guess Herbert Clarke was WAY ahead of his time. He always advocated playing softly!
