Some folks like the heavy caps and say it improves slotting. Some will only put weighted cap(s) on the 3rd valve. The rounded vs square slide on my horn changes the feel of the horn. Rounded feels more open with less resistance. Try the various combinations and see what you like. You may find you like a certain setup better for jazz and a different set of options for classical.
