Welcome to TM, Jman03! The heavy caps can improve slotting, especially when combined with an O-ring (you can search TM for the trhead about o-rings), but it is a matter of personal taste. I use heavy caps on my Schilke E-3L Eb trumpet, but not on my Schilke Bb. The Round vs. Square debate is an ongoing one here at TM, so feel free to read and play and decide for yourself, and then share your discoveries.
