| Re: First Monette Mouthpiece jazz9-
First things first--worry about finding your new trumpet. You've already decided on a brand and model, but you're probably going to have to play a bunch to find the right one for you. Do this on the mouthpiece you're used to. Getting a radically different mouthpiece at the same time that you're buying a brand new horn isn't a great idea.
Once you have your new horn, experiment with some new mouthpiece sizes. If you're on a 7C now just because that's what you started on, you might want to think about a Bach 5C, 3C or 1 1/4 C. Find what feels best. THEN, when you have a ballpark size, call up Thompson, or Monette directly and talk to them. They're great at helping you find the right mouthpiece.

PS. Do you have a private teacher? Even if you don't have on that you regularly study with, getting a couple of lessons with a local pro might really help when deciding on major equipment changes.
