Thanks for your reply. You may be correct. I had begun to suspect a week or so ago that it was a stencil that never got stenciled.

On the leadpipe it is stamped as coming from France. (Just FYI.) Valves numbered 7 thru 9 internally and externally. Other than that, no markings.

Raw brass. I probably spend too much time polishing it to some peoples' tastes, but I like my horns bright and shiny for performances.

If you have pictures of your similar horn that you wish to share, or if you've posted to horn-u-copia with it, I'd like to take a look.

I know this one isn't the correct vintage for my re-enactment band, but it does play well.

Someday if my ship comes in I'll get one of the few available period pieces or find someone who makes a good replica.

Right now though, I'm just having fun playing it.

Does GABB stand for Grand Army Brigade Band or something else?
