That's what it is. How old? Who knows....
Those things were manufactured in Europe up through the early 1900's, so the antiquated design doesn't necessarily mean it's super old. The earliest ones had 2 valves, and even the ones built in the 1850's are a little more primitive than this example. My best guess would be around 1870-1880, which is still pretty old.
