Now about your heavy tongue. You may well benefit from what's known as k-modified tonguing. You anchor the tip of your tongue behind your bottom teeth, and use the area right behind it in an arch to open and close the air flow - it moves to and away from the roof of your mouth while the tip remains fixed behind your bottom teeth. at the upper right side of his page. I don't know if it will help or not but there is less overall tongue movement involved. Playing first chair with "throat" tonguing is pretty amazing, if you ask me (but nobody will).
