| Re: Copying Mouthpieces The late, great, Arthur Benade, before becoming Monette's tame acousitican, did a lot of fooling around with backbores at Bell Labs; acoustical duals and such, and backbores make a huge difference in how a mouthpiece plays. That is why Dave scrapes.
Volume makes more of a difference than shape, and given enough mouthpieces and cutting tools, we can all create the perfect mouthpiece.
Practicing on the mouthpiece we have works pretty well, too.
