Re: Different mouthpieces for pistons nd rotaries

I used a deeper cup for the rotary for many years (Monette B2D vs a B2 for the piston trumpets). Now I have the deeper mouthpiece on the piston trumpets too.
I tried shallower mouthpieces but think that that does not fit the character I expect from the rotary.

The original Monke (from Cologne) mouthpieces had a very deep bowl shape. In Dresden before the second world war, there were cup shaped but a very round transition to the throat. I have never seen an old mouthpiece in Germany with a monster backbore. There were quite a few models with cookie cutter rims however.
