| Re: Penzer Mueller Belcanto NY Trumpet Hi, I have a little info. Is this the one on a Craigslist, maybe Pittsburgh? I was surfing cities trumpets and saw it for $75.
There is a little info on Horn-u-copia in the "Other Makers" threads under P, of course.
Post says the company as woodwind makers. Penzel had established as Penzel and Brothers in 1882. Forme th partnership with Muller in 1899. Muller was president from 1920-55. The company was owned by AG Badger 1920-35. Used the tradename Empire State.
There is a photo of a Belcanti Penzel Mueller NY, in well-worn state. Looks like a 20's-30's design.
There is a photo of a cornet c. 1882-1898, with commentary that it is a stencil sold by Gustav Ludwig and Gustav Frederic Penzel. the Penzel brothers moved their woodwind instrument factory from Germany to New York in 1882. Their store operated at 216 Sixth Ave until 1884 when they moved to 368 Bowery.
There are no comments on playablity. I would expect any around now are rare survivors and would have to be checked out personally to see if they are anything worth buying.
