I bought a Maxtone pocket trumpet on ebay for $105 (that's the price with shipping), and couldn't be happier. I have a nice little portable horn that has decent tone/tune, and sits on my desk in my office. I can practice, do long tones, mess around in my free time at work. Worth it? Totally. At home, I have a Taylor XLite and a circa 1970's Couesnon flugel. Do I want to drag those around for basic practice? Naw. If ya got the bucks, it's totally worth it.
