See the instrument in the eBay auction at
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250690867448&ssPageNam e=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I noticed it the first hour it was listed last week and I thought it was a Conn 35B trumpet in key of D as seen at Conn Loyalist at
http://www.xs4all.nl/~cderksen/Conn35B1967image.html

Nobody bid the first few days so I thought I was the only one who noticed it.

Then 3 people started bidding against each other in the last 24 hours,
so I thought I didn't have a chance of winning it.

I needed to be with family away from the computer at the end of the auction,
so I asked a sick friend to bid on it for me in the last 10 seconds.

I was amazed that I won it.
A mint-condition professional made-in-Elkhart 1966 Conn Victor for $207.51 plus $12.87 for shipping, for a total of only $220.38.

Then I was more surprised when the seller told me that it has a 2-3/4" long Conn #5 mouthpiece, which means that it is really
a Conn 2A cornet in the key of Eb that is listed at Conn Loyalist at
http://www.xs4all.nl/~cderksen/Conn2A1956image.html

Conn Loyalist says that the Conn 2A cornet is just 1/2 inch longer than my Conn 5A cornet.
Although the Conn 5A cornet has a .485 bore
while the Conn 2A cornet has a "slightly smaller" .421 bore.

It will be interesting to see if the tiny Conn 2A Eb cornet is compatible with a Wick 3B or Wick 2B cornet mouthpiece, which for me are very shallow mouthpieces.

Now if I can just get UPS to deliver the new cornet without crushing it.

Hi all!

I just took a Besson Bb Trumpet in to my shop from customer who destroyed the 2nd valve. Unfortunately, the instrument does not seem to have a serial number to help me date it or a model. I did find this picture of the same bell engravings...

Image View

Any ideas of model? Obviously I'm looking for a new 2nd valve if any knows of a source!

I have a Beusher 400 trumpet, 225. It has a number of 302135 and a pat no of 2132329. It is in excellent condition and I may be interested in selling, but not sure. Could anyone advise me on the year it was built?
It also has a mute and a couple of mouth pieces, and case. (but not original) Times are tough in this house right now so selling might be my only recourse.:-( Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

hey folks
let me start by stating that i may be ableto find the answers to theses q's by browsing through threads right under my nose- im just gona try this-sorry.
im looking into purchasing an older model cornet thats in need of no repairs.im pretty wierd about my possesions being in good shape. i have little knowledge on horns and i live in a place where my resources are LIMITED-other than the web. most people selling olds ambassadors on ebay dont have a return policy-frustrating.
mabey i need to slow my roll but im thinking i need anew horn to replace my cheapo rossetti trumpet.(also looking for a more compact horn with a mellower tone-was thinking about a pocket trumpet 4 a while).
any advice on a good ol horn 4 sell?

I just bought a 81,xxx serial number Olds Super today. There is a really bad dent in the bell - but otherwise the horn is in fairly nice original condition. Valves are very clean and have excellent compression. No other significant damage.

I would like to sell the horn, but I'm unsure whether to have the bell damage repaired and then sell the horn, or sell the horn as is. I'm not interested in keeping it as I have a couple of keeper trumpets already

Comments??

Thanks!

Just want to share photos of the newest aquisition before it is sent off to Oberloh for overhaul. Got it on Ebay last week, Complete, it has two minor dents in easy to fix places, valves have good compression, all the slides are free and the valves move reasonably well. My only concern is the leadpipe that looks like it may have corrosion internally. The case looks like new and the latches are great yes pan is there on the bell, sorry I can't get a good photo of him.

I just my very own (not parent bought) 1946 King Tempo trumpet!! For only $160, this horn is eager to scream the high notes! I acquired a King 7M and a King 7K mouthpiece with the horn, which I have no idea what they are in comparison to the Bach C's. Does any one have any info on this horn at all? The serial number is 280xxx. This is a fantastic, intermediate horn that I just love playing.
And it's the first horn in my collection that is silver and gold!! Oh man this sooo beats my Besson!!
I just need to replace the valve stems and valve caps and finger buttons. One valve stem was cut in half, then put back together with superglue and metal jammed through the middle of the valve stem

My sons and I were shopping locally today and came across a Bostonian horn. Not sure if it falls into the Trumpet or Cornet area....it was shaped like a classic trumpet - but it was shorter .

It has a number of 118083 on the #2 valve. Each Valve is also numbered 1 2 3. Heavy little thing... too.

There are a few dents on the horn - but none that are noticeable on the bell. The valves are spring loaded on the bottom and uneven, but I think workable. I didnt look into this much more, but I wanted to get in here to talk to you all and see if you all could help me decide to purchase it or not. The asking price is around $70. The original case is there, and it is in okay shape...nothing to write home about. The mouthpiece is still in the horn....looks as though it doesnt come out....but I'm sure it will. I took a couple of pics with my phone cam....but I cant get them loaded here.....gggrrrr
