lip problems

I have developed a buzzing in my bottom lip. It mostly occurs from the top of the staff to high c and sounds like I,m doing the old jazz trick of singing while playing.

I use the B.E.R.P. to get started at home. I have Jim Thompson's book.......it's a very, very good one. I use the BERP for different reasons. My neighbors would be very unhappy if I played on the trumpet what I play on the BERP....... some mornings I start a 6:30 AM8-)
The BERP is a maintenance tool for me.

A few years ago, George Cables (A Brooklyn native) said: "5 Will Get YA 10"
but he never said $18.00 is what it cost for one to obtain a seat at the 39th Annual Jazz Concert at the University of Pittsburgh,Pa on the evening of Nov 7,2009.

My friends,I'm beginning to believe if it didn't happen in Pittsburgh,Pa it never happened !

It was a fun night as Lew scared the Master of Ceromonies as he stepped onto the bandstand clutching three (3) trumpets followed by Jimmy with two (2) - 1 with rotary vales.
The 1st set was a "Jazz Messenger's" song book and the locals went wild when Jimmy and Lew turned in separate solo performances on BLUES MARCH while Benny Golson watched
with joy.

For $18.00 one got a seat to listen to: Benny Golson (Tenor Sax); Jimmy Owens and Lew Soloff (Trumpets); Donald Harrison (Alto Sax); George Cables (Piano); Terri Lyne Carrington
(Drums); Yotam Silberstein (Guitar); Leon Lee Dorsey (Bass).

By the way,I've grown accustomed to seeing trumpets with "finger buttons" but have recently noticed the introduction of trumpets with rotary valves - what's up with this,fellas ?

After hearing all the Swedish superiority BS form Sofus and watching the recent thread http://www.trumpetmaster.com/vb/f131...der-50300.html I got to recall a video by Swedish group Triple & Touch in which they rendered the Bugler's Holiday in a rather comic fashion. I always admired Ole E. Antonsen, but rarely get to see him in that gender of performance:

Sharp In Upper Register...Ouch!

Mr. Wise,

I am wondering what I can do to develop better intonation for notes above the staff. My gigs have me playing regularly in the upper register, but as the night goes on, I find myself getting increasingly sharp and having to pull out the tuning slide much further than normal. Are there any exercises, studies, etc., I can use to help correct this problem?

Hi Wilmer,
I was intrigued by your thread �Double high C who needs it�
I�ve been playing for less than 4 years and on a good day my usable range is G just above the staff.
I have some DVD�s of great players such as Arturo, Maynard, and Cat Anderson playing high. How high I haven�t a clue, however not as high as a clip I saw of Doc Severinsen playing some very high notes for Letterman. Now Doc is a great player however the notes he played on that clip was just noise to my ear.
As I said I was intrigued by your thread so I decided to use Finale note pad to get an idea of what a DH C sounded like.
I set the sheet up for Bb trumpet and started with a C below the staff semibreve and continued the C major scale on up.
Unfortunately I didn�t get to hear what a DH C sounded like in finale as the software only allowed me to go up to High G (The G above High C)
Do you think that the people who wrote the software assumed that this was the extremity of the musical range for Bb trumpet?
