Hey guys -

I'm selling my favorite horn. My silver-plated Schilke CX4 is simply awesome! Gotta move some horns to pay for other things . . . and the CX4 just doesn't get enough play time . . . so it goes on the block.

The horn is nearly perfect, with no dings or scratches, and only slightest hand wear on the third valve casing. It's a BIG horn! If you prefer open-blowing instruments, and don't like the tightness of your current C, this is the horn for you.

I'm asking only $1,500 for this beauty.

I can be reached at 919-981-0303, or here.

Thanks!

Steve

Hello all,

I have a silver-plated Bach Stradivarius 229 bell C trumpet with a full conversion by Bob Malone on it that I’m selling.* Right now, I’ve got a raw brass MC1o leadpipe and tuning slide on it, but will also include the original silver plated MC1 leadpipe and tuning slide.* Full Malone conversion also includes annealed bell, and work where the bell goes into the horn.* Also, moveable first valve-slide brace, and heavy valve cap on third valve.

The horn is in good condition, but definitely is not perfect.* There is wear through the silver plating at the contact points.* I use a valve-guard to help protect it.* Also the second valve slide has two dings in it…it plays fine, and I just haven’t had time to take it in to get it fixed.* This would be a VERY easy fix for any competent repairman.* There are a couple small dings on the bell, but nothing serious.* They were there when I got it.

This is an excellent trumpet, with great intonation and response.* It’s like a super Bach, the best Bach C trumpet I’ve played.* If you (like me) love the way the Yamaha Chicago C trumpets play, but (also like me) think there is something lacking in the sound, this is the horn for you.* The classic Bach sound, but without the stuffiness and intonation issues.* The only reason why I’m selling is that I’ve decided to buy a Blackburn.* This has been my faithful axe for several years, and got me through graduate school.* I love this horn, and hope that it goes to someone that will continue to get some great sounds out of it.

Please e-mail me for pictures…serious inquiries only.

$3500 shipped.

WTS: 1980 King Model 2008/reversed leadpipe/large-bore

1980 King (pre-UMI) Model 2008 C trumpet with a large bore (.462"), reversed leadpipe, and original case.

Cosmetic condition:
Near-mint. Silver plate is 100%. Some tarnish on the raw brass of the slides and some staining around the water key and slides where the brass meets the silver plate. No red-rot. One tiny dent on the elbow of the first-valve slide. The case is in near-mint condition also. Interior upholstery is complete, unstained, and not torn. Some minor scuffs on the exterior, but nothing ugly or big. Latches work perfectly and the handle is solid.

Playability:
Slots unbelievably well. Excellent, easy response (thanks to the reversed leadpipe). Big, open blow. Typical problem spots for a C trumpet, but plays in tune very easily. This horn plays a LOT like a Bb which is good or bad depending on one's preference :).

History:
Information on this horn was extremely difficult to come by. All I was able to find was that the Model 2008 was the very last professional-grade trumpet King made before being assimilated into UMI. I bought it from a music store in Washington State and was blown away by the condition of a 29 year-old horn. It looks to me like somebody bought it, played it for a few months, then stored it properly for a long time before selling it to the music store.

Why am I selling:
Plain and simple - I got a once-in-a-lifetime deal on a Xeno 8445 C to match my Xeno 8345 Bb. The King actually responds a little easier than my Xeno C, but I REALLY want the same characteristics in my C that I have in my Bb - I don't play enough to be able to learn two completely different horns.

Shipping and payment:
I'll take care of shipping to the lower 48. Money orders are acceptable. I accept PayPal, but I'll need to split the 4% PayPal fee with you if you use it.
Thanks!

Like the Bb I have up on here, this horn is barely used. Valves and slides work great but are by no means broken in.

I've decided to keep my 229 with the MC2B and give someone else a great deal. The horn uses the MC1 hidden reverse style leadpipe and has a great high C. Look out Also Sprach! Like the reviews have raved, this horn gives you that Bach sound without all the timbre changes and pitch manipulation that have always been a Bach pre req.

There is one tiny ping I couldn't catch on camera on the 1st valve slide from shipping. It was such a great horn that I couldn't stand sending it back to get a different one. There is no case included but I will let it go for an additional 100 dollars.

If anyone is interested in both horns, let me know and we can try and work out a deal.

I can't seem to get the upload to work on the pic files but you can view the horn here: http://www.trumpetherald.com/marketp...etail&id=15472

$2750
