When I had to replace my elderly brown cover Arbans manual the only edition that I could find was the red cover Fischer edition that was solid bound. I took it to a local copy center,( Kinkos ), where they cut it and spiral bound it. What a fabulous difference.

Arban's Method for the Cornet (copyright 1879, Public Domain)
Here is the post originally mentioning it: Forum: trumpetherald.com
His original URL doesn't work but if you go about 2/3 down the post he re-uploaded it elsewhere and that link still works. He also has links with the different sections.

As for the 1879 version of Arbans, most of the exercises are the same, but the duets are completely different and not as good as the later versions.

You might be interested to know that a new version of the 14 studies is soon to be available. It will come with 14 newly composed accompaniments (in print) and have a cd with the accompaniments at 3 different speeds. It will also have performances of each and every study. I've heard all the accompaniments (I recorded the performances) and they are fantastic. Each one is in a slightly different style including Latin (for No 8), Romantic (big Rachmaninoff) Waltz etc etc look out for them! (BrassWind Publications)
Got my copy spiral bound today - what a great idea; sick of trying to read around the curve/having the thing fall off the stand.
