I have a turn of the last century French edition and it's amusing to look at. I showed it to my teacher and he was interested to see that the staccato in the early pages was added by editors (perhaps Goldman) and wasn't in earlier editions.
The text was probably fooled with as well. The first edition was in the late 1860s, I believe? Right after the modern cornet was invented. I think Mssr Arban would be pleased that we still find utility in his exercises today.
