If you do not transpose at all, the best way is to get a hymnbook and just start doing it. I know of no collection of simple well known melodies that is more comprehensive or better suited! You play everything one tone up and add 2 sharps to the key signature (or subtract 2 flats...) You do not need any special exercizes for that and the results come fast. Once you get comfortable, you can start transposing standard etudes (Arban, Schlossberg, Kopprasch, Concone......). The best way is to start TODAY. Just jump in with both feet. After a couple of weeks, the hymnbook should be NO PROBLEM! | |

| Re: Best way to transpose I cheat. When I orchestrate I use my Finale in concert pitch. Afterwards a couple of clicks and it's done for me. Dave |
