![]() | Over the last few years I have increased my range and endurance by practicing more, with frequent rests. I have also started doing a Caruso routine. I find that it has increased my endurance more than it has increased my range.

![]() | First you need to become very consistent in what you practice and when you practice. Try this every day: 1) Mouthpiece buzzing: find a different song each week that you like and buzz it 2) Scales 5 to 10 minutes: majors then try minors 3) Clarke studies work on some from the first study, stay with in your comfortable range do this for about 20 minutes a day treat them as long tones. only move the higher studies when you can do the low or mid range ones well. 4) slow and fast lip slurs over narrow and wide intervals 5 to 10 minutes 5) music and other interest practice for getting sound and for mastery of the material( ie being able to play it many times over and over perfectly), also find some one new to perform in front of at least once a week. try doing all of this in 2 sessions or maybe 3, alot of the little things like slurs can be done as a warm up before band so you have it done by the time you get home. also practice everything with a metronome! |
