Hi. Today I had to play really long notes without chance to take deep breath between notes. I don't usually use circular breathing since it's not very effective way to breathe but I noticed that when using B2 Prana I can't do circular breathing any more. With Bach 1 1/4C it worked fine. I think that because there are less resistance on the horn when using large thoat/backbore mouthpieces such Monette Prana I don't have enough time to take a breath. Air just runs out too fast and I can't get air through nose fast enough. How can I make it work when horn has nothing to blow against? Is there any exercises that could help? Thanks

Yakeko,

In order for circular breathing to be effective the intitial breath must be very full and you must not wait too long to grab the nasal breath. Yes, the Monette Pranas are more open so you have to take much more air in than with other mouthpieces.
