Hey, all of you within driving distance of Ontario, how's this as an excuse to get together? I'm not familiar with any of these groups or names (which means absolutely nothing) but at least there's going to be lots of brass.

If you know anything about this, or would like to arrange to meet up, please post (or PM me if you're shy- yeah, a shy trumpet player).

Thanks, Mike

ONTARIO — The Ontario/Chaffey Community Show Band will present a concert Monday titled, “Let the Stars Shine.”

The free concert, directed by Jack Mercer, will be at 7:30 p.m. in the Gardiner Spring Auditorium, on the campus of Chaffey High School, 1245 N. Euclid Ave. The musical stars of the future will be competing during the concert in the Lou Dokken Scholarship event.

Talented brass soloists from local schools will perform for the scholarship money sponsored by the Ontario Noon Kiwanis Club. Also performing in honor of Lew Dokken will be some of his former band mates in the Brass Quintet from the Pomona Concert Band.

The Show Band’s portion of the concert will take a world tour starting in Arabia followed by a street tour of Paris. The trip will also head south of the border to enjoy rich melodies and interpretive dancing by Kathy Soderlund. Guest artists for the show will include Dr. Gabe Petrocelli, Elaine Vanek, Shelia Ruff and Brian Detwiler. Prior to the concert there will be free Starbucks coffee and an opportunity to purchase DVDs of the Show Band.
