    David Zauder...RIP

Ryan Anthony has just informed that we have lost another legend this week. David Zauder who played in the Cleveland Orchestra for so many years passed away peacefully last night. His approach was as about as old school as it gets. That famed Cleveland trumpet instrumentation of Principal (C trumpet), 2,3,4 (B flats) was started by him and had nothing to do with the acoustics of the hall or the classic sound of the orchestra. Just plain old school playing and he was always comfortable transposing everything on his B flat.

Aside from being a Holocaust survivor, he was also one of those great mentors who just did things the no nonsense way. A sad week for American orchestral trumpet playing. I am sure that many of you will also have great stories about him.

May he now continue playing his trumpet with Gabriel.

An under-sung player. First Herseth, now Zauder, but their influence will carry on.

I hope not! But, in the off chance nature exercises her final option. I trust your wife will remember the nearly finalized deal we had on 3 of your horns
